Question

How do You Get a Canon Printer Online?

I am using Canon mp495 wireless printer. It was working fine from a long time but suddenly it says it is offline, I don’t know how to change it to online. I have reinstalled drivers but still there exists the same problem. Sometimes, I see “USB cable is unplugged” message on the screen, but in reality, I am not using any USB cable. Please help me to make my Canon printer online!

To get your Canon printer online, check these steps -

  1. To set the Canon printer from offline to online mode, first navigate to Settings and then tap on Printers. After this, press right-click on Canon printer and then choose the option “Use Printer Online”.
  2. If there exist print jobs then clear them. Then press double click on Canon printer and navigate to Printers menu and choose “Cancel all documents” option. It might be possible that due to a struck printing job, your Canon printer is not getting into offline mode. So, it will prove advantageous if you delete all print jobs. After deleting print jobs, try once again to set the Canon printer back online and also try to print a test page.
  3. Toggle Canon printer off and then turn it back on. Make sure that there does not exist paper jams in your printing device. Check all network connections and make sure none of the network connection is loose as this might cause various issues.
  4. In the next step, restart your PC. Also, reinstall Canon printer drivers. For this, navigate to Settings > Printers and then choose your Canon printer. Then press right click on Printers and choose the option “Properties”. Under the General tab, search the Driver button and press a click on it. You have to download Canon printer drivers from the Canon printer’s official website.
  5. Then reinstall your Canon printer. Move to the Settings menu and click on Printers. Then choose your Canon printer. After this, delete Canon printer and reinstall it through “Add printer” wizard. Also, use the latest printer drivers for your Canon printer from its official website.
