How to Troubleshoot Duplex Printing not Working on Lexmark Printer? 

Below are the steps that you need to follow in order to fix duplex printing not working problem on Lexmark printers. So, let's start with basic troubleshooting. 

Step 1: First of all, you need to see whether your printer model supports Duplex printing or not. To check this, you need to carry out the suggested steps to print the Menu settings page. 

When you see that your printer is in the ready state, use the navigation keys to select the menu button. Go down and then choose the option of Reports. Below this, you need to select the Menu Settings Page. 

Step 2: Search for the installed feature on one of the pages and confirm that the Duplex option is mentioned in the list. 

If you find the duplex option in the list, then go ahead with step 3. In case you don't find it there, then there is some problem with the Duplex assembly on the main printer. To fix this problem, you need to contact the customer support team of Lexmark. 

Step 3: Now, check that the right paper type is selected. In case the paper type is set to Envelopes, paper labels, Transparencies, and Card Stock. When you find that your printer is in a ready state, select the menu button and then go to the paper menu.

In the Paper menu, you are required to select the Paper Type. After that, you need to choose Tray 1 Type using the navigation keys. Then, select the Plain Paper and then press the Return button. Don't release the button until you see Ready on the screen. 

Step 4: Now, go to the Diagnostic Mode and then select the option of "Duplex Test" and then carry out the steps mentioned below. 

For Lexmark C73x Series Printers

Step 1: First of all, you need to power off your printer. 

Step 2: Press and hold the right and down arrow buttons. 

Step 3: Turn on your printer and then keep the buttons held down. Don't leave the button until you see the floating stopwatch symbol on the screen. 

Step 4: A new menu will show up with Diagnostics in the upper section of your screen. 

Step 5: Press the down arrow button until you see the DUPLEX TESTS on the screen. After that, press the check mark and then again press the down arrow. Don't leave the check until you see the Print Test on your screen and then press the check mark again. 

Step 6: To close the Diagnostics menu, press back. 

For Lexmark X73x Series Printers

Step 1: First of all, turn off the MFP. 

Step 2: Press and hold the 3 buttons and 6 buttons on your numeric keypad given next to the touchscreen. 

Step 3: Turn on MFP by keeping down both the buttons. Hold down both the buttons and make sure that the status bar reaches 100%. When this happens, you need to let go of the buttons. 

Step 4: A new menu will be displayed on the screen with Diagnostics appearing at the top of the screen. 

Step 5: Now, press the down arrow to scroll down and then press the right arrow given next to the DUPLEX TESTS. 

Step 6: After that, you need to press the right arrow given next to Print Test. This will give you a means to verify the duplex hardware function of your printer. Once you select the test, the device will execute continuous print tests that creates a duplex output page.

While the execution is going on, you will see a green indicator light blinking and then the panel will show you a message that says "DUPLEX TESTS Printing". If you wish to stop the test, then press Close. 

If the Dplesx test is selectable and present and only simple pages are printed on the selection of duplex test. After that, you need to contact your Lexmark technical support team.
