Question

Dell 1320c Printing Grey Instead of Black

Hello, I have a Dell 1320c printer at my home. I use it for my office related document work and a few print assignments of kids. The printer has been in our home for over an year now and apart from a few hiccups, I cannot recall any major malfunction or issue with the machine. From last two days though the printer is printing light black and more of a grey instead of Black. I have changed the Cartridge only 2 weeks back and one last me atleast a few months. Then what could be the issue? If anyone have any idea please help!

Dell 1320c Printer Troubleshooting -

When your Dell printer print grey instead of black then try this test -

  1. Put a page into the manual feeder and when the corner of the page is about to enter the printer, you have to open the lid.
  2. Then pull out the toner cartridge and also pull back the shutter.
  3. Now, look at the image, if it is still black then you should understand that problem is related to transfer roller that is not getting enough high- voltage.
  4. Next, the transfer roller will pull the image off the drum and then down onto the paper. If possible, replace your source of High Voltage board power supply.

One more thing to try -

  1. First of all, open Printers folder and then press right click on Dell 1320c Printer driver to choose Printing Preferences.
  2. Under Print Quality, click on Basic tab and choose one of the following options -
    • Best - You can use this mode to print precise images.
    • High - Choose this option if you need better print quality than normal and faster print speed than Best.
  3. Then click on Apply button to save the changes.
  4. In next step, tap on Advanced and then confirm “Ink Save mode” is unchecked.
  5. Then click on Color Settings > Color Enhancements and adjust color options so that your printer’s print quality can improve.
  6. Lastly, save the overall changes by clicking on Apply button.
