The main solutions to this problem are:

  1. Uninstall the Printer
  2. Update Printer Driver

Fix 1- Reinstall Your Printer Driver

Step 1: Go to the control panel of the dialogue box and press Enter.

Step 2: Click Devices and Printer in the Dialogue box.

Step 3: The list of printers appears on the screen.

Step 4: Right-click on the model name of the printer that is causing the problem.

Step 5: Select the “Remove Device” option.

Step 6: Uninstall the device and go back to the control panel.

Step 7: Disconnect your printer from the computer if it is connected via a USB cable or disconnect it from the wireless router.

Step 8: Shut down the computer, router, and printer. Take all of them off the power supply. Wait for 10 minutes.

Step 9: Plug everything back in and restart the computer.

Step 10: Now connect the printer to the computer using a USB cable.

Step 12: Wait for some time for the computer to detect the printer driver.

Step 13: Go back to the control panel.

Step 14: Select the “Set as default printer” option and right-click the device.

Step 15: Try printing a test page. If you can print the page successfully, it means that your printer problem has been solved.

 

Fix 2- Update the Printer driver

Step 1: Press the Windows key on the bottom left of your device.

Step 2: Click the “Start” menu.

Step 3: Click the “Device Manager” option in the search results.

Step 4: Right-click the “Print queues” option and click on “Update driver”.

Step 5: Your device will search automatically for updated driver software.

Step 6: Now reboot your computer and see whether the problem persists.

How can You Remove Leftover Software Files from Your Computer Device?

Junk files make a computer device unresponsive and make the printer driver unavailable while trying to set up a printer. So, it is necessary to declutter the device and improve its performance by deleting the software debris.

Simple Steps to Remove Leftover Files from the Computer:

  • Open the “Start” menu on the bottom left of your computer.
  • Select “Device Manager” from the search results.
  • Click on the “View” tab and select the “Hidden Devices” option.
  • Go to the Printers list and select “Delete driver software for this device” option.

  • Uninstall entries from “Printer queue”, “Imaging devices” and “Unknown Device” option.
  • Close the “Device Manager” and click the “Win+R” keys.
  • Type printui.exe/s on the “Run” window and click Enter.

  • Delete Driver entries from Print server properties as well.
