Question

Brother Wireless MFC 685CW Printer Reads Offline

I don’t understand that why my Brother wireless MFC 685cw is showing in offline mode when everything is set up properly. I have also tried factory settings on the menu and then reset the wireless configuration but still, the same problem is going on with my Brother printer. After setting up Brother printer wirelessly, my computer detects the printer’s SSID but nothing happens after typing the password. If anyone of you has faced such problem then guide me how to make Brother printer online?

Fix Brother MFC 685CW Printer Offline Issues:

Check out these steps to make your Brother MFC 685CW printer online -

  1. First of all, reboot your Brother printer by turning it off and then turn it on after a few moments. To finish booting, wait for a few minutes.
  2. Confirm that your Brother printer is plugged into the computer and has network connectivity. To check network connectivity, move to the backside of the printer, and check green light is blinking or not. If there is no light indication then you have to check the physical connection and then proceed to the next step.
  3. Next, log into your computer using that account that has “Manage Printers” rights. In various cases, the local administrator account can be used.
  4. After this, click on the Start button and then on Devices and Printers.
  5. In the next step, press right-click on your Brother printer and choose the option “See what’s printing”. Then proceed to the next step.
  6. You are now redirected to the print spooler window. Here, click on Printer, and then choose the “Use Printer Offline” option (remove checkmark). At this point in time, your Brother printer will come online. Now proceed to the next steps.
  7. Exit from Print Spooler Window and go back to the “Devices and Printers” option.
  8. Then, launch the web browser and download the latest drivers for your printer from the Brother printer official website.
  9. Now follow on-screen instructions that came with the driver to install it properly. If still, your Brother printer is not getting online then proceed to further points.
  10. Tap on Start button > Control Panel. In the upper right corner of the window, there is a search box. Type “Troubleshooter” in that search box. Now, you have to click on the “Troubleshooting” link that is appearing in the main window.
  11. Click on “Hardware & Sound” and then click on “Use a printer”.
  12. Now, you have to follow on-screen instructions. The troubleshooter will automatically resolve the problems that were detected.
