How to Fix Paper Jam in Ricoh Printer?

Whether you use Ricoh printers for some personal work or professional work, you will experience the Ricoh paper jams issue once in a while. In fact, this issue occurs with most of the printers in the application. While Ricoh printers are a bit complicated, there are some basic troubleshooting tips that you can follow to fix Ricoh printer paper jam problem on your own.

For better results, restart the Ricoh printer and wait for a few minutes till it powers back up completely. You will hear a beep sound once the printer is in ready mode. If you hear several continuous beeps, this indicates a Ricoh paper jam error with the machine.

Different Procedures to Fix Ricoh Printer Keeps Jamming Problem

1. Inside the Fusing Unit

If the paper is jammed inside the fusing unit of the printer, check the procedure to fix the Ricoh printer paper jam.

  1. Using the lever given on the front cover, carefully pull and open the front cover of the Ricoh printer.
  2. Now, lower down the blue fusing unit lever, and slowly remove the jammed paper out from the fusing unit of the printer. If you still don't find the jammed paper inside, check for it by pulling down the user guide.
  3. Carefully push up the front cover of the printer using both your hands until it shuts down completely.
  4. Push the upper part of the cover in a firm order while closing the front cover of the printer. Once you close the cover, check whether the jammed paper error is resolved or not.

Note: The machinery inside the printer usually gets hot so never touch the parts labeled as "". This sign indicates a hot surface. The fusing section of the printer also might be extremely hot. So please take care and be cautious while you are taking out the trashed paper from the machine.

As you know the temperature around the guide is high, wait for the time till it get cool before checking for jammed paper.

2. Inside the Paper Tray

In the next case, we will check the steps to fix the Ricoh paper jam when it is inside the paper tray. You can follow the below procedure to remove the paper jams inside tray 1 or 2.

  1. Pull out the opening lever provided on the front cover, and then carefully lower down the front cover.
  2. Carefully, try to take out the jammed paper inside the paper tray.
  3. In case the paper gets choked inside the transfer unit, take out the paper forward.
  4. Now, use both of your hands to gently push up the front cover until it closes.

Note: Do not pull out the paper tray (Tray 1) as it might get difficult to place again.

If the paper is blocked in tray 2 and you are unable to locate it, then pull out tray 2 in order to fix the paper jam in the Ricoh printer. Once you remove all the paper jams, carefully push in tray 2 back to its place inside the machine.

When you close the front cover of the printer, push the upper area of the cover firmly. Once the printer cover is closed, check whether this will fix the paper jam in the Ricoh printer or not.

3. Inside the Transfer Unit

To fix the paper jam in the Ricoh printer inside the transfer unit, follow the below procedure to remove it.

  1. Pull out the opening lever on the front cover of the printer, and then gently lower down the front cover.
  2. Now, carefully clean all the jammed paper you see inside the transfer unit.
  3. Deeply look inside the machine if you don't find the jammed paper inside.
  4. Again, use both of your hands carefully to push up the front cover until it closes.

Note: When you are closing the front cover, remember to push the upper area of the cover firmly. Once you have closed the cover, re-check whether the Ricoh paper jam error is cleared or not.

One thing you can do is switch off the Ricoh machine by pressing and holding down the power button for a few seconds. You will find the power switch at the back side of the Ricoh machine which is usually a narrow red switch. If this way doesn't help to fix the paper jam in the Ricoh printer, you can unplug the printer machine for a few minutes and turn it ON again.
