Disable Printing in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10:

Microsoft Edge is an incredible browser introduced by Microsoft Windows 10. This platform has been made to replace the previous Internet Explorer web browser for Windows OS. This feature is available for a lot of apps in Windows.

This browser enables users to print PDF files, and web pages. and other content. Nevertheless, there are some companies that enable users to watch content in the browser and not download or print it. Only the administrator has the right to disable the printing features in Edge.

Disable Printing for Legacy Microsoft Edge

The Legacy Edge is a browser that comes as a default browser with Windows. There are a lot of companies, which will be using the Legacy version of Microsoft Edge. Your browser's policy setting is already available in the system.

Method 1: Use Your Local Group Policy Editor

The group policy editor feature enables a user to control the working environment of their PC. Windows 10 has a new policy setting that enables or disables a user from printing web content in Edge. The basic need for this particular setting is Windows 10 1809 or later.

The group policy editor option is only available in Windows 10 Pro and Education editions. In case you are using the Home Edition, then you need to skip this method and use the Registry method instead.

Step 1: Press Windows and R keys simultaneously on your keyboard and then open the Run command box. After that, you need to type gpedit.msc and then press the Enter key to launch the local group policy editor.

Step 2: In the next window, you need to go to the path.

User Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Microsoft Edge\

Note: You can find this setting in both categories.

Step 3: Go to Allow Printing and then double-click on it and then another window is going to open up before you. After that, you are required to change the toggle option to Disabled.

Step 4: In the end, just select the OK or Apply button for saving the changes. This is going to disable the printing feature in Edge.

Step 5: You can enable it again whenever you want by changing the toggle option to Enabled.

Method 2: Use the Registry Editor

The Windows registry is a database that keeps a record of all the settings of your operating system. This is an alternative to the Group Policy Editor method. In this method, you are required to perform a few extra steps to manually create the missing key or value of that particular setting. Moreover, this option is only available for Windows Home users.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to disable the printing feature in Edge.

Step 1: Press the Windows key and R key simultaneously to launch Run and then you need to type Regedit. After that, you need to press the Enter key and then launch the Registry editor. After that, select the Yes button for the User Account Control prompt.

Step 2: In this path, you are required to go to the following registry path.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge\Main

Step 3: Go to the right pane and then right-click on it. After that, select New and then select the DWORD value option. You must name this value as "Allow Printing" and then save this option.

Step 4: After that, you need to double-click on the value and then change it to 0.

Step 5: When you are done performing all the steps mentioned above, you need to restart your system to apply the changes. Now, printing will get disabled in Microsoft Edge.

Step 6: If you wish to enable printing once again, then you need to change the value data to 1 or remove it from the registry.
