How to Fix an HP Scanner Problem?

If your HP scanner is not scanning properly then you need to check these solutions -

(All solutions are applicable in Windows 10)

Solution 1 – Repair corrupted system files

1. Press Windows logo and R keys simultaneously to open Run dialog box.
2. When Run open, just type “cmd” and hit Enter button.
3. Command prompt will open on your Windows 10 operating system, just type “sfc/scannow” and then hit Enter key.
4. Now system scan will start and you have to wait for a few moments. Once verification process gets 100% complete, you can switch to further process.

Note – To run this command, you have to log on your system as an administrator. If due to any reason, you are unable to do so then you can face error.

Solution 2 – Configure related services

If some related services are not started then definitely your HP scanner will not work properly.

There are some related services -

• Remote Procedure Call RPC
• DCOM Server Process Launcher
• RPC Endpoint Mapper
• Shell Hardware Detection
• Windows Image Acquisition

To check service status, just have a look at these points -

If you are taking Shell Hardware Detection -

1. Press Windows + R keys to open Run dialog box.
2. In the Run dialog box, type “services.msc” and press Enter.
3. From the displaying results, locate “Shell Hardware Detection”. After this, press right click on it and then choose Properties from the context menu.
4. If you see Service Status is stopped then just click on Start > OK button. By doing this, service will start again.

Solution 3 – Update your HP Scanner

It might be possible that your HP scanner driver has some problem and because of this, your scanner is not working properly. In such circumstances, update your scanner and then scan documents. Navigate to scanner’s manufacturer website and download the latest drivers that are compatible with your system. If you face any problem in updating driver manually then you can use “Driver Easy”.
