You need to take off the top cover of your printer to install the cartridges.  Also, you need to change the position of the carriage and move it towards the center.

Step 3: If you find that the ink is empty or low, then a warning message will appear before you on the screen stating that you need to remove empty cartridges from your printer and replace them with new cartridges. You may also require to reset the printer when the dry ink will settle down and the residue doesn't allow the printer to deliver a good quality print.

Step 4: After that, you must clean the cartridge and printhead for clearing the residue and ink stain.

Step 5: Take a lint-free cloth and dip it in cleaning liquids. Now, clean the surface of your ink cartridge and rub the dried ink stains. Now, take a dry cloth to dry up the circuits. After that, put the cartridges back in their original position.

Step 6: Now, look at the control panel of your printer and see if there are any messages related to your ink cartridges. If you are using an HP 61 printer, then you will see an error message appearing before you but you can still continue with your work.

If the error message says "missing ink cartridge", then that means HP 61 is not installed properly or it is not placed in the right slot. After that, remove the cartridge from your printer and then insert it again.

Step 7: Please ensure that your ink cartridge is installed in the designated slot. Move it a little bit to see if it can be moved from its present location. Try to print one more time after resetting the cartridge.
