Stop Duplex Printing (Turn Off / Disable Double-Sided Printing):

Double-sided printing, also known as duplex printing, is now a standard feature in the majority of modern printers. This feature is popular among users because it increases productivity while decreasing printing costs.

Despite these benefits, there are times when users want to disable duplex printing on their printers but are unsure how to do so. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to stop duplex printing on a Windows computer in simple steps.

Why is It Necessary to Stop Duplex Printing?

As previously stated, duplex printing is a productivity and cost-cutting feature that is available in a wide range of printers.

Printing Separate Documents: If you're printing multiple pages to send to different people, you can't afford to have them printed behind each other on the same page. You must print each document on a separate page.

Printing Photos / Images: When printing images or photos, you usually want them to be printed on a single sheet rather than on two sides of the same sheet. As a result, you must disable duplex printing on your printer when printing images.

How Do I Disable Duplex Printing?

If you want to disable duplex printing on your printer, you have two choices. This feature can be turned off for a single print job or permanently until it is re-enabled. Both of these methods will be covered in depth further down. You can select the ones that meet your requirements the best.

A) For a Single Print Job, Disable Duplex Printing.

If you want to disable double-sided printing for a single job, you can do so in the application you're using or by going to the printer preferences. Both of these techniques are discussed further below.

I) From the Application

Microsoft Word is a good example of such an application. Open the MS Word document you want to print, then click the 'File' button in the upper-left corner of the application window. Go to the 'Print' option in the File Menu, and then to the 'Pages' drop-down option. Pick that option. Duplex printing is not supported by your current printer.

ii) Printing Preferences

We will, for example, complete this task in MS Paint. To stop duplex printing on your printer, you'll need to look for similar options in your application.

B) Turn Off Duplex Printing for all Print Jobs.

Follow the steps below to permanently disable duplex printing on your printer. However, keep in mind that the options in the Printer Properties window vary depending on the printer. You may have to search through multiple tabs and menus within the Printer properties window to find the options related to double-sided printing or duplex printing.

The steps below are just an overview; the actual options for your printer may differ, but the process will be the same.

Step 1: Type 'control' into the search box and then select 'Control Panel' from the results.

Step 2: To proceed, click the 'Hardware and Sound' option in the Control Panel window.

Step 3: Click on the 'Devices and Printers' option in the Hardware and Sound window.

Locate and right-click your preferred printer on the Printers page, then select 'Printer properties from the options. Select the 'Device Settings' tab from the Printer Properties window.

Locate the option "Two-sided Printing" under Device Settings and select 'Off' from the drop-down list. Finally, to save your modifications, click the 'OK' button. That's it; you've disabled double-sided printing in your printer. To re-enable duplex printing in your printer, repeat the steps above.
