Question

Printer Connected But Won't Print

Hey, I have a HP wireless printer at home for over 7 months and I use it for small office related paper work. The printer in question is connected with my home network which is a comcast modem and a Netgear n150 router. The problem is since I updated the latest firmware my printer would not take any print commands even though it is connected to the network. What is the problem and how can I fix it?

If your HP wireless printer is connected but not printing then check these points -

  1. Confirm that your printer is properly connected via USB/ethernet cable or if you are using the wireless model that WiFi is enabled and your device is connected to the appropriate network. If your printer’s drivers are corrupted then you have to reinstall the drivers from the manufacturer’s download page.
  2. Replace ink cartridges with new ones if your HP wireless printer is running out of ink. Before the ink level gets critically low, you have to refill empty ink cartridges.
  3.  Place your HP wireless printer close to the router. By doing this, WiFi performance will get improved. Also, confirm that your router is adequate and also support 802.11n. One more thing i.e., your router offers 5GHz band and 2.4 GHz and also the router’s firmware is up-to-date. To increase the WiFi performance, you can also use wireless extender or repeater.
  4. If your HP wireless printer is not working after the upgrade then you should understand the problem is related to driver or you have not updated driver properly. For this, again visit HP website and download the latest driver for your printer.
  5. Also, check for paper jams because it is also a serious concern. While clearing paper jams, confirm that there does not exist any traces of paper.
