Printer won't connect to the internet?

I have a Kodak wireless laser ink printer at home. I have been using it for more than a period of 7 months without any major problems or issues. Recently I changed my computer to MAC from Windows and since the change my printer has stopped connecting to internet. Is it because of the computer change or something else. kindly help me out here.

The printer should be able to connect to your network, if it is connecting to the wifi and still not able to get access to the internet then chances are something is wrong from the inside. I will discuss a few general troubleshooting techniques for the same, kindly follow them carefully:

1. Make sure your printer is set as default:
The computer recognizes the default printer and tries to make connections to it in case of a print command. So make sure that your printer is configured with your Mac PC and set as default. Also, check whether your PC is well connected to the network.

2. Update Printer Drivers:
The connectivity is controlled by drivers on your printer, so make sure none of the drivers are outdated or corrupt. Go to your printer's official vendor and download all latest available driver updates and install them and see if the issue is resolved.

3. Connect your printer manually:
If your printer's IP address does not match in lines of your router's IP address then chances are your printer is connected to your home network. Open the utility software which came along with the printer and goes to its settings. From settings, go to its connectivity or web settings and make sure to configure it from scratch as per your router settings and see if the issue is resolved.

4. Re-configure your printer: If the issue is not resolved even now, chances are your configuration process was flawed. So, remove the printer from your Mac settings and reconfigure it from scratch. Make sure you download all drivers and able to connect to your home-network while configuration itself.

For computers running Windows operating system -

  1. Go to Printers and Faxes section and then locate your Kodak printer. For this, go to Start > Settings>Printers & Faxes. If you find your Kodak printer under Printer and Faxes section, then press right click on its icon and click Delete.
  2. In next step, you have to run Kodak Printer Setup Utility as an administrator. For this process, go to Start> Programs> Kodak. After this, press right click on “Kodak Printer Setup Utility” and click the option “Run as”. From “The following user”, just choose a username with administration account. Then hit OK. At last, just follow on-screen instructions to run Kodak Printer Setup Utility.
  3. If still, you are facing problems, then make sure Kodak printer driver is installed properly -
    • Open Device Manager by navigating to Start > Run and then type “devmgmt.msc”. Hit Enter.
    • Now Device manager Window will open on your system. Here, if your Kodak printer is listed as Unknown Device with a yellow question mark then you have to properly install Kodak printer driver.
  4. If you are using USB cable connection -
    • Make sure your Kodak printer is turned on and the power button is illuminating.
    • Verify that you are using a high-speed USB 2.0 cable.
    • Confirm that USB cable is securely plugged into your Kodak printer and your Windows operating system.
    • Make sure the distance between your Kodak printer and computer should be less than 6 ft(1.8m).
