Question

Unable to Scan from HP Printer

I am having the major problem with my HP Photosmart All In One B110a printer to work with my Windows 10 PC. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled software drivers at various times but my HP printer is not scanning anything. I have also the latest version of HP printer software but still, my printer is refusing to scan files. When I use HP Solution Center, “HP Imaging Device not found” error message displayed on the screen. When I run HP Print and Scan Doctor 5.0, I see “scan driver is unable to communicate with the product”. Help me how can I scan from HP printer.

When HP printer refuse to scan then apply these tips -

Reset HP printer and then check power source -

  1. Press Power button to turn on your HP printer. Once printer gets turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and also from the power source. Then wait for approx 30-40 seconds.
  2. Then reconnect the power cord to printer and computer and then turn on HP printer. If there occurs no error then make a test copy. On the other hand, if any error occurs then you have to connect the power cord to different wall outlet.

Run Print & Scan Doctor -

  1. Download & install HP Print & Scan Doctor tool on your operating system.
  2. After installing this tool, go to the Start button on the Welcome screen, click on printer name and then hit Next. Now you are redirected to “Finding & Fixing problem” screen.
  3. Tap on Fix Scanning and then follow on-screen prompts to resolve the issue. If any error does not display then make a test copy to check if the issue is resolved or not. If the error persists then proceed to next troubleshooting point.

Check functionality of scanner bar

  1. Remove the original photos or documents from the scanner glass. Then lift the scanner lid and then press Copy button.
  2. If scanner light does not move then it might be possible that scanner mechanism is jammed. If the scanner light moves but error displays then continue to next section.

Additional troubleshooting tips -

  • Reinstall HP printer software.
  • Restore factory default settings.
  • If possible, use a shorter USB cable (less than 3 meters) and then connect your PC to the printer directly.
