Reset HP Embedded Web Server Password:

Set the EWS admin password to secure the printer, according to HP. Anyone with access to the printer can configure any configuration and find anything about your network if the password is not set.

When an administrator password is set, some tabs, pages, and settings become visible. See the General Security page on the Security tab for further information about assigning an administrator password.

We did some research and found various steps to reset HP Embedded Web Server Password. Restore the printer's network defaults as indicated below:

  • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer's control panel for three seconds.
  • The password access requirement has been disabled.
  • ADMIN is the default username.
  • Password is BLANK.

If the preceding steps do not yield results, try the following:

1. Open a web browser and, in the address field, type the printer IP address exactly as it appears on the Configuration Page, then click Enter.

IMPORTANT: To print the network configuration page, press the Wireless button and the Information button simultaneously on the printer control panel. The IP address can be found on this page.

2. Set the local administrator password under General Security on the Security tab.

  • Keep the default username of admin.
  • Fill in the New Password and Password Verification fields.
  • Apply may be found at the bottom of the page.
  • When you next log in to the EWS, use these credentials.
